POWNAL, VT – Saturday night, everything seemed to fall into place for Rob Maxon and the Dane’s Auto Parts #96 race team as the team was able to pull into victory lane at the Lebanon Valley Speedway for the first time this season.
Maxon had the fastest car early on in the 20-lap feature event, moving to the head of the class from his eighth starting position by lap six and went on to take the convincing win at his home track.
“I was trying to bide my time. but at the same time I knew I had to get going,” he said. “I knew there were other people coming so if I wanted to get to the lead, I had to go. I knew we had a car that could win and I’m glad we were able to get it done.”
After running opening night without it, the team finally had their primary Lebanon Valley car available for use and Maxon made the most of it. No matter what the Pownal, VT driver tried to do with his car, it worked as everything just clicked Saturday on the high banks.
“We brought our tour car here opening night and it just didn’t go,” Maxon said. “We’ve been trying to get this one together. This is the piece we’ve designated to only run here this year. It just handles really well here so to show how fast it is and get the win, we’re excited.”
The next race for Maxon Racing will be this coming Saturday night at the “Track of Champions,” the Fonda Speedway, when the King of Dirt Sportsman Series holds the 30-lap Clash Of Champions event at the Mohawk Valley oval.
