PITTSFIELD, MA – Working hard and fighting fuel pressure issues in his #87x machine all evening, Paul Gilardi drove his way from 21st to 10th in the Modified feature Saturday night to get his 2018 season off to a strong start.
After finding what he felt was the answer to his fuel pressure problems after the test & tune last weekend, Gilardi still fought the same issues during opening night. He was unable to qualify through his heat which meant he would start deep in the field for the 30-lap main.
The driver from Pittsfield, MA went forward in the feature event, however, bringing his HigFab Chassis home with a solid 10th place finish.
“My guys worked their tails off after the heat trying to figure out the issue,” Gilardi said. “I thought we had it fixed until about the last ten laps of the feature, but we still have some work to do.”
Even with the problems, Gilardi likes what he see so far from the team’s new car and how it handles.
“We’re not really sure what the problem is. but I can tell that we’re on the right track with this car and motor combination,” he said. “My guys will work hard to get things straightened out for next week, but to finish top ten tonight, I’m very happy. We have the makings of a good year and starting strong like this, going forward in the feature, is a big positive.”
The next event for the Superior Seamless Gutters team will be this Saturday at Lebanon Valley when Contractor Sales & Boomer’s present a great night of racing action. Gates open at 5pm.
