POWNAL, VT – Sunday was a busy day for Rob Maxon and the #96 Racing Team…both on track, and off.
Rob started his day at the Motorama Car Show in North Adams, MA, displaying his Dane’s Auto Parts, Southside Sales & Service Bicknell machine. He then loaded the car and headed west to Fultonville, NY and the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for a night of racing action.
The on track portion of his day was not what he had hoped, even though they came home with a top 15 finish.
“It really wasn’t a good night for us,” Maxon said. “We struggled and missed a handicap spot in our heat race so we had to start 14th. We just really couldn’t get anything going and the race only had one yellow early so it was hard to move forward.”
The Maxon crew continue to work hard to get the handle on their touring car. They’ve been working at it constantly but just aren’t getting things the way Rob likes them to be comfortable.
“We seem to be missing just a bit with the setup,” he said. “At Glen Ridge, I’m still having trouble figuring out turn one. I can’t get in like everyone else. The car’s loose but good everywhere else.”
As stated earlier, the team had their car on display at the Motorama Car Show in North Adams, MA Sunday morning. This is a great way to give back to the team sponsors who support them all year long.
“It was a great day and a lot of fun,” Rob said. “We were set up with Dane’s but Southside was right next to us.”
Rob’s wife, Melissa, stated nearly the same thing.
“The show was a great time,” she said. “We had a lot of kids come over to look at the car and get signed pictures. Many of the kids even asked how Rob gets in the car.”
The next race for Maxon Racing will be Thursday night at Lebanon Valley Speedway for the next race of the King of Dirt Sportsman Series.
